The first thing to strike you on a visit to the Grotte du Grand Roc is a breath-taking view over the Vézère valley. Your visit will take tou through an incredible variety and number of crystallizations – it’s just like wandering through a mineral forest. Will you be abble to tell the difference between the stalactites, stalagmites and calcite flows ? You will also be amazed by the huge numbers of excentric concretions – tiny formations only a few centimetres in length and about the thickness of a pencil wich shoot out in all directions in a seemingly impossible manner ! Don’t miss the evening torch-lit visit to the cave during the summer. And note that the Grotte du Grand Roc is the only cave with concretions listed as a UNESCO Worl Heritage Site.
