Cavern of
BEZE

The cavern of Bèze is located in Côte d’Or. The first room of the cave has been known since the Middle Ages, however, the underground river was only discovered in September 1950 by Mrs Renaud, Sage and Velard.
Then the exploration continued with the help of members of the Spéléo Club of Dijon. And twenty years later, thanks to the mayor at the time, Mr. Robert Poinsot, the caves were developed and opened to the public.

The first part of the visit is done on foot, then, from the landing stage, a boat trip will take you to the White Room (named after one of the speleologists who contributed to the discovery of the underground river) which can also be visited on foot. The return trip is also by boat. During this underground journey you will discover very beautiful concretions and navigate on extremely clear water.

The part that can be visited is about 500 m longand the guided tour lasts 40 to 45 minutes. The temperature in the cave is 12°C, so it is recommended to bring warm clothing.

After the visit, you will be able to discover the village which presents a rich architectural and landscape heritage. In summer, the abbey, founded in the year 630, is open to the public.

For groups (from 10 people), in addition to the visit of the caves, we organize guided tours of the village as well as of the abbey (upon reservation).

The caves are not equipped to receive people with reduced mobility, we thank you for your understanding.
